Apple tops hardware sites

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

The Mac maker’s Apple.com last month hosted 55.7 million unique visitors, more than the site of any other computer hardware manufacturer, according to a report released on Monday by Nielsen Online. The number of visitors was more than double that of second-ranked Hewlett-Packard, which drew in 21.9 million people.
May visitors to Apple’s Web site spent an average of an hour and 14 minutes on it, perhaps in anticipation of the pending release of the new iPhone 3GS, Nielsen said.
Traffic to Dell’s site came in third place, with 16.8 million unique visits in May. Overall, Web site visits to hardware manufacturers followed by Nielsen grew 22 percent year over year, from 57.3 million in May 2008 to 70.1 million last month.
Buzz about Apple was also in full swing among bloggers in May. Blog mentions of the iPhone 3GS shot up 1,226 percent on June 8, the day the new phone was announced, from the prior week. Blog talk dipped after that but then doubled on June 19, when the 3GS hit the shelves.
That’s a good question since Apple doesn’t get money from ads. However, they spent an hour and 14 minutes on the site on average, so I’d guess that at least some of that was shopping and not just random people visiting and then leaving.

ASUS Eee Keyboard will launch on August

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

Last we had heard, ASUS’ convention-busting Eee Keyboard was due to be released by the end of June but, as you may have noticed, it’s now almost the end of June and there’s still no Eee Keyboard in sight. ASUS has now finally come out and cleared up the situation, however, saying that the PC-in-a-keyboard / keyboard-in-a-PC is now due to be released sometime around the end of August.
Unfortunately, it’s not clear if that’ll be the XP-based version we’ve been seeing all along, or the Moblin-based version that just cropped up earlier this month (or both), and there’s still no word on a price either.
This is the only keyboard like this that exists (excluding old home computers obviously) and having the netbook inside is the whole point and the CTRL key is exactly where it should be.
I just mean an external keyboard with isolated keys, like this and the apple ones, which suck for PC games because of the ctrl placement, and they’re a bloody nightmare to remap. Not an actual system-in-a-keyboard like this and the Amiga 500. Just a Dell laptop keyboard(high quality Dell laptop keyboard).

Virus-built Battery Could Power Cars?

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

The new virus-produced batteries have the same energy capacity and power performance as state-of-the-art rechargeable batteries being considered to power plug-in hybrid cars, and they could also be used to power a range of personal electronic devices, said Angela Belcher, the MIT materials scientist who led the research team.
The new batteries, described in the April 2 online edition of Science, could be manufactured with a cheap and environmentally benign process: The synthesis takes place at and below room temperature and requires no harmful organic solvents, and the materials that go into the battery are non-toxic.
In a traditional lithium-ion battery, lithium ions flow between a negatively charged anode, usually graphite, and the positively charged cathode, usually cobalt oxide or lithium iron phosphate. Three years ago, an MIT team led by Belcher reported that it had engineered viruses that could build an anode by coating themselves with cobalt oxide and gold and self-assembling to form a nanowire.
Because the viruses recognize and bind specifically to certain materials (carbon nanotubes in this case), each iron phosphate nanowire can be electrically “wired” to conducting carbon nanotube networks. Electrons can travel along the carbon nanotube networks, percolating throughout the electrodes to the iron phosphate and transferring energy in a very short time.
The viruses are a common bacteriophage, which infect bacteria but are harmless to humans. For other Laptop Accessories information, you can visit: Dell laptop battery(Supply high quality Dell laptop batteries)

Notebook Battery Life Claims are Bogus

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

AMD isn’t happy with the way some battery claims are made, saying the reliance on a test called MobileMark 2007 doesn’t yield an accurate indicator of what to expect. The problem, says Patrick Moorhead, a vice president for marketing at AMD, is that the parameters for the test include dimming the screen the just 20 percent brightness, turning off WiFi, and making sure no music, video, games, or webpages are running. Not only is the test flawed, says Moorhead, but it also favors Intel.
“Intel is advantaged in this environment because they have optimized their architecture to have bettery Dell laptop battery life when the computer isn’t doing anything,” Moorhead said.
Intel shrugged off AMD’s complaint, saying if the No. 2 chip maker is so passionate about the subject, it would “encourage them to bring any new proposals or edits to the nonprofit industry consortium called BAPCo.”
But is AMD out of line? Not likely. In the June issue of Maximum PC, Editor-in-Chief Will Smith discussed the topic in his Ed Word titled “Notebook Battery Life is a Trap.”
“You’d think testing Toshiba laptop battery life would be straightforward, but benchmark results rarely jibe with real-world results — in part, because there are an infinite number of potential workloads (each tapping power differently), and battery life decays over time,” Smith wrote.
I pretty much always look at laptop battery test results as a theoretical maximum.  It probably would be better to do the tests using the machine as the average user would on a typical day.
The thing is, how often are laptops ACTUALLY used in a place that doesn’t have access to a power outlet?  My MBP is almost never on IBM battery power, either plugged in at home on my desk, or plugged in a work on my desk.  I guess people who travel a lot might use batteries more, but you can get airline power adapters now, most airports have places to plug in (if you’re quick and get a spot by them!)  I don’t go to starbucks or other coffee shops, so I’m not sure about the availability of power outlets there.

New LOOP concept makes your PC immortal

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

For those not IT-savvy enough to build and upgrade their own PCs, what happens is that once the machine becomes impossibly obsolete, the owner will buy a new desktop and ditch the old one. Meanwhile, before buying a new computer, the user is essentially stuck with the same old components unless he can get someone to upgrade the hardware for him.
Hong Kong industrial designer Jocko Chan has a better idea. He created a PC design for Dell that uses no screws at all, making disassembly and upgrades a breeze. Part of his LOOP concept sees the consumer renting the internal hardware (for a fee), and engineers regularly upgrading the internal components for a fee and recycling those that are obsolete. Keeping the same chassis and just changing the essential parts cuts down on waste as well.
It’s still a pipe dream at this point, but we must say that even if the LOOP doesn’t take off, the PC design is droolworthy enough that we hope Dell will at least adopt this unique chassis in the future.

What do you think? Does it means something to you? Just leave your message here:

Dell selling downloadable Microsoft software?

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

You no longer have to drive to your local Staples or Best Buy to grab the latest copy of Microsoft Office.
Dell has become the first non-Microsoft company allowed to sell downloadable Microsoft products at its Dell Download Store. The agreement, announced Thursday, gives Dell the right to sell Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Expression Web and similar Microsoft programs directly to online customers.
With everyday savings plus on-demand access, the Dell Download Store addresses our customers’ two main concerns: price and immediacy,” said Geoff Surkamer, general manager, Dell Global Digital Distribution. “In addition, downloading is a more environmentally friendly way to purchase and distribute software because there’s no need for packaging material.”
A search for Microsoft Office Professional 2007 found Dell offering the software for $448, while Staples and Best Buy were selling it for full retail at $499. Microsoft also sells its own products online at full retail price.
Opened in January, the Dell Download store grabs around 10,000 visitors each week, said Dell. The store also offers a variety of programs from other manufacturers such as McAfee and Intuit.
Dell has been on the go lately, exploring diverse new markets to bump up its bottom line. The company recently said it plans to offer free, open-source software to small and midsize businesses. Dell also may be eyeing a takeover of another high-tech firm to expand its sales reach.
Dell seems to be doing pretty good with the download thing. So what do you think of this? Just leave your opinion here. If you are looking for laptop ac adapter or usadapter, you can also visit here:Gateway S-7200C AC adapter(AC100-240V)

How to choose a suitable Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter

Published by sunvalley under Uncategorized Edit This

Most importantly, it is essential to carry laptop AC adapters when you plan your business trips. Whether you’re looking for a replacement Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter,  a spare Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter, or an extra Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter for home or office use, this article will guide you in making your decision.
You should be very cautious when you buy a Dell AC Adapter for your laptop. If you try to power your laptop using an inappropriate laptop ac adapter it will damage your laptop. There are three primary factors you need to consider before buying a Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter; namely voltage, tip polarity and tip size.

Voltage
The voltage output from the Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter provides DC to power your laptop. If the voltage does not match the input current requirement of your laptop your laptop will not function properly. Both high and low voltage will affect the performance of your laptop.

Polarity
A power tip will normally have an inner and an outer conductor. The inner conductor may have positive or negative polarity. Based on the polarity you will need to carefully select a Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter. If the positive and negative polarity is connected in the wrong way it will cause severe damage to your laptop. Most of the notebook Dell AC adapters have standardized polarity symbols labeled on them, which helps you to buy the right Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter.

Tip Size
The size of the tip is always mentioned in the user manual that comes with your laptop. If the tip size of the Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter doesn’t match with your laptop, then it cannot be used.

So, be careful when you choose your Dell Inspiron 2200 AC Adapter, just consider these simple information before you buying it.
